Supporting community wellness during lockdown and beyond

During a period of time that has presented many challenges to the wellbeing of our communities, we have been inspired by organisations that have continued to provide valuable resources and support. One organisation that exemplifies this is collective being.

collective being is a Melbourne-based non-profit organisation that supports community health and wellbeing through the delivery of healing-centred mindfulness, yoga, and movement-based programs. Through innovative partnership models, their work dismantles the economic and social barriers that limit many in their community from accessing the wellness supports that they need to be healthy, thriving and connected.

collective being have not let COVID-19 get in the way of their mission and recently deployed their wellbeing care kits to individuals and families through their program partners in Melbourne.

Their wellbeing care kits launched during COVID-19 in response to the impact of the pandemic on individual and community wellness. Recognising that many people were not able to access digital supports or essential services during lockdown, they designed a series of kits for children, families and individuals. Each kit provides tools, resources and activities that support mental health, physical wellbeing and community togetherness, including donated resources from like minded businesses and organisations around Australia.

We were pleased to donate some of our cork massage balls to support this great initiative and hope they can be used in tandem with collective being’s series of free trauma-informed yoga video and audio practices and weekly community care meditations.

Whilst the wellbeing care kits were a direct response to the pandemic, the impacts of COVID-19 will be long lasting for many. For this reason, collective being will continue to design and deliver kits for individuals and families as part of their community care strategy.
